About Wee Dug Books
Our Story
Wee Dug Books was founded with a simple mission: to create books that combine interesting stories with fabulous illustrations. We believe that beautiful books inspire a lifelong love of reading.
Gillian & Delphine
The combination of Gillian Muir, who started her career teaching Geography in Scotland, and the talented Belgian illustrator Delphine Frantzen has proven to be a successful combination of talents.
They met in 2010 and, although they have other projects to follow, they are still collaborating and looking forward to the next book – watch this space!
Louis
Louis was adopted by the Muir family from the Help Animals shelter in Brussels. He slowly adapted to his new life and travelled with his new family to locations across Europe, including France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, England and Scotland (to name but a few).
Our first book was about him finding a new home, with subsequent books following his adventures through to Brussels, Paris and Edinburgh. He loved going with Gillian to schools, book fairs and other events. A red letter day was when they had their very own event at the famous Shakespeare and Company in Paris.
Louis has inspired many children (and a few adults too) to start writing about their own journeys.
Events & Workshops
Our events have included appearances at Scottish Book Week, the American Embassy in Brussels, the British School of Brussels, the International School of Brussels and numerous other schools and author events.
If you would like Gillian to visit your school, event or organisation then please contact us for further information.
